Russian Federation Government Amends Licensing Regulation of Passenger Motor Vehicles

Sept 27th, 2011 (Resolution N 790) - The Government of the Russian Federation has amended the regulation on licensing of passenger motor vehicles equipped to transport more than 8 passengers (with exception for legal entity’s or individual entrepreneur’s own use), originally approved by the Government of the Russian Federation on October 30th, 2006 (Resolution N 637).

- Effective January 1st, 2012 - One of the licensing requirements for passenger transport motor vehicles equipped to transport more than 8 passengers (with exception for legal entity’s or individual entrepreneur’s own use) will be that, carriers will make available vehicles equipped with GLONASS or GLONASS / GPS satellite navigation systems.

- Effective July 1st, 2012 - The use of passenger transport motor vehicles, which are not equipped with GLONASS or GLONASS / GPS satellite navigation equipment, will be deemed a violation of the licensee’s terms and conditions.
